» Day 1:
Meet fellow travellers at Dublin Airport and check-in for your direct flight to Tel Aviv. On arrival at Ben Guiron Airport you will be met by a Joe Walsh Tours representative and transferred, by private coach, to your hotel in Tiberias where you will stay for four nights. Breakfast & dinner will be served each day at the hotel.
» Day 2:
Depart after breakfast to visit the most renowned sites around the lake Sea of Galilee, Tabgha, Capernaum and St. Peter Primacy. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a relaxing trip in a wooden boat in the Sea of Galilee for approximately 45 minutes. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
» Day 3:
Following breakfast, we will explore the ancient city of Acre, the Old City, the Crusader Fortress and the Bazaar. We will then continue to Haifa, via Mount Carmel. The site is now known as Muhraka (“the Scorching”). We will have the opportunity to admire the panoramic view of Haifa Bay and the beautiful Baha’i Gardens. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
» Day 4:
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration. We then proceed on to Nazareth, to visit to Church of the Annunciation (where the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus), St. Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. We will then have the opportunity to visit Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
» Day 5:
After breakfast, we will check-out of the hotel in Tiberias. We will depart for Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947 by a Bedouin. We continue driving south and ascend by cable car to visit Masada, a very impressive site indeed and the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. Afterwards we will drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Interestingly enough, the Dead Sea is not actually a sea. It’s a salt water lake. This extremely high salt concentration makes the density of water here more than that of the human body. As a result, a person can stay afloat on the water of Dead Sea and will never sink because of its natural buoyancy. You will get the opportunity to experience this phenomenon yourself. The Dead Sea acts as a natural health spa as there are lots of minerals in the water and the mud is rich in nutrients. Proceed to Jerusalem & check-in to your hotel for overnight and dinner.
» Day 6:
Today you will spend a full day touring Jerusalem. Visit Pater Noster Church, enjoy a view of the Holy City from the Mount of Olives and follow the Palm Sunday route (including a visit to Dominus Flevit). We will also explore the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
» Day 7:
Explore either Jerusalem or the vibrant city of Tel Aviv, you decide! You will have time to take in the sights of whichever destination you choose at your own pace. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
» Day 8:
Enjoy a day in Bethlehem. After breakfast, we will visit the Church of the Nativity. As you enter the church, you will proceed down to the Grotto of the Nativity. Beneath the Altar, there is a Silver Star and Latin inscriptions. We will then proceed to Hebron, a city of great historical significance. We will explore Hebron, and take a tour around the Ibrahimi Mosque (The site of the Tomb of the Patriarchs) and the Old City. We will visit also a pottery factory to learn how local pottery is made. We will also have the opportunity to visit the glass factory, and a women’s cooperation centre in Idna. That evening, we will experience a Palestinian traditional evening by enjoying a farewell dinner at the Tent restaurant in Beit Sahout with an authentic Arabic water pipe and traditional sweets. Back to the hotel for overnight.
» Day 9:
You will enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel and then depart, by private coach, to Ben Gurion Airport. Check-in for your direct flight to Dublin. Joe Walsh Tours representatives will be with the group providing assistance at the airport.
